An accomplished retail and management consulting executive, professional speaker, and iconoclast with extensive retail, Internet and general business expertise. Doug has helped guide many leading national retailers innovate to create compelling customer experiences in stores, online, and at all touch points. Doug works with founders of early-stage retailers, direct-to-consumer brands, and solution proviers to those spaces on fundraising, product/market fit, messaging, and go to market strategy.
Called upon for his retail expertise by national media outlets, including ABC World News and The Wall Street Journal, and a speaker at retail’s largest conferences, Doug’s thought leadership covers omnichannel retailing and retail innovation. Doug also served as Chair of the National Retail Federation’s Associate Member Council.
Prior to Sophelle, Doug co-founded and served as CTO for RetailExchange.com, an innovative leader in excess inventory solutions for manufacturers and retailers. As IT Specialist in the Retail and Direct Marketing practice for EDS Management Consulting Services/A.T. Kearney, he advised leading national and international retailers on best practices. Doug also served as VP of IS at Wholesale Depot, where he implemented leading-edge point-of-sale, merchandising, warehouse, distribution, financial and database marketing systems. He began his career at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). Doug earned his MBA from Northeastern University and his B.S. in Computer and Management Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
